Final-Year Applicants — Read ThisYou can apply provisionally if your degree result is awaited. However, the original degree certificate is mandatory at Document Verification. Failing to produce it — regardless of exam rank — leads to cancellation of candidature. There are no exceptions.

What Are the Nationality Conditions for SSC CGL?
Indian citizenship is the primary requirement. However, SSC also permits the following candidates to apply — subject to producing a valid Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Government of India at the Document Verification stage:- Citizens of India
- Subjects of Nepal or Bhutan
- Tibetan refugees who arrived in India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling here
- Persons of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Ethiopia, Zaire), or Vietnam — with permanent settlement intent
Non-Indian Applicants
If you fall under categories (b)–(d) above, you must obtain a Certificate of Eligibility from the Government of India before Document Verification. Appearing for the exam is allowed, but appointment is contingent on this certificate being produced in time.

Color Blindness = Disqualification for Inspector Posts
Candidates with color blindness are not eligible for any Inspector post under CBIC (GST, Preventive Officer, Examiner) or CBDT (Income Tax), and Sub-Inspector roles. This is one of the most common reasons for final-stage rejections. If you are color-blind, these 8 posts must be avoided entirely.
PwD Exemptions in Physical Tests
Orthopedically disabled candidates are exempted from the walking test (OL and OAL categories) and cycling test (OA, OL, and OAL categories). However, the height, chest, and weight standards still apply as prescribed.
SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria — Self-Check Before You Apply
Use this checklist to verify your eligibility before the April 2026 deadline. Each point maps directly to a disqualification risk:- I have a bachelor’s degree from a UGC-recognised university (or I’m in my final year and will produce it at DV).
- If applying for JSO: I have Statistics as a graduation subject OR 60%+ in Maths at Class 12.
- I have calculated my age as on 1st August 2026 and it falls within the limit for each post I’m selecting.
- I am an Indian citizen (or hold a valid GoI Certificate of Eligibility if applicable).
- If targeting Inspector/Sub-Inspector posts: I have verified my height, chest measurement, and eyesight against post-specific standards.
- If I am color-blind: I have excluded all Inspector (CBIC/CBDT) and Sub-Inspector posts from my preference form.
- My name in the application exactly matches my Class 10 certificate.
- My OTR on ssc.gov.in is complete and active before I submit the application form.
